Overview

During my tenure at 7-Eleven, I played a pivotal role in shaping the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) across various devices and platforms. I worked on key projects like the 7NOW App, the Laredo Taco Company’s Point of Sale (POS) system, and the HUB Platform, which is used in all 7-Eleven locations nationwide. My responsibilities included ensuring ADA compliance for color schemes and maintaining a comprehensive design system. I collaborated closely with project managers in two-week sprints to deliver product designs for team approval before handing them over to the engineering department.

To enhance the design process, I utilized Figma to develop interactive prototypes. This allowed engineers and project managers to visually and interactively experience the proposed improvements in workflow. The use of these prototypes significantly streamlined our communication, enabling a clearer understanding of the designs. This not only facilitated faster decision-making but also accelerated the implementation of necessary changes and updates. The result was a more efficient development cycle, leading to timely and improved updates across our platforms, thereby enhancing overall user satisfaction.

Laredo Taco Company Point of Sale System

The wireframes presented here provide a glimpse into the intricate Point of Sale (POS) system used by associates during the checkout process for placing food orders. These visual representations provide a concise yet comprehensive overview of the robust interface designed to aid associates. By streamlining the ordering process, these wireframes demonstrate how the system is optimized to ensure that associates can handle transactions smoothly and efficiently, ultimately enhancing the customer’s experience. The layout and design elements of the wireframes are carefully crafted to facilitate quick navigation and error-free operation, which are critical during peak business hours, ensuring that each customer interaction is as seamless as possible.

POS Prototype Flow (Happy Path)

The interactive prototype above demonstrates the “Happy Path” scenario for our POS system, meaning the entire flow proceeds without any issues or interruptions. Multiple scenarios were developed to simulate real events, all created in weekly sprints. These flows were iteratively refined based on feedback from project managers. Once a design was approved, it was handed over to engineers for implementation. This process ensured that the final product met all user and technical requirements efficiently and effectively.

The 7 Now app is an innovative solution designed to streamline the interaction between store associates and customers, facilitating efficient order handling and pickup. Given the challenge of high turnover among store associates, the app provides clear and simple guidelines that help new and existing staff quickly understand how to fulfill orders accurately. Associates use the app to

gather items ordered by customers, verify their accuracy, and then signal that they are ready for pickup across various delivery platforms similar to Uber. This process not only enhances the efficiency of order fulfillment but also improves the overall customer experience by ensuring orders are ready swiftly and accurately, thereby boosting customer satisfaction and retention.

The HUB

The HUB is a dynamic platform, specifically designed to empower managers with the ability to efficiently update and manage the Point of Sale (POS) systems within their stores. A key feature of the HUB is its focus on Reports, which provides managers with convenient access to detailed transaction data. This capability is crucial for monitoring business performance and making informed decisions. The wireframes showcased here illustrate a small section of the HUB that is currently under development. Although these designs are still evolving and have potential for further enhancement, they mark substantial progress toward developing a unified and customizable user interface that is both intuitive and manager-friendly. This development aims to streamline operations and improve the overall management workflow, ensuring that users can navigate and utilize the system with ease and efficiency.
